Bird Skulls by soulofwinter Bird Skulls by soulofwinter
Lately I've been learning resin casting, and for my first cast I needed some sort of small thing to cast, that wasn't too challenging, but also something I'd want to have myself. Tick (the bird skull my mom found under her porch a while back) would make a neat pendant, but I was terrified of casting the actual skull, so I ended up making a Sculpey replica of the skull and casting that. (There are a few parts I had to thicken due to how easy it would be to break, bird bones are so fragile x_X; ) These are the casts I ended with, painted more realistically, as if it was a skull found while on an adventure in the forest :D These were for sale at RMFC and are still for sale at a local bead store!

Edit: Sold out and retired

No worries, since these guys are retired and the picture was personal work, I don't mind. I'm glad you were able to find it of use! :) It is strange that they're showing up in stock images though, you're not the only one either - I'll have to take a look and see if I slipped on the category they're submitted into.

What sort of material did you use for sculpting these? Clay? I would like know, I'm willing to make a hawk skull pendant.

Whoops, updating the info completely escaped my mind! The bird skulls are actually retired now, so I won't be making anymore. But if you're looking for bird skull casts and necklaces, usually Skullery has some neat skull casts up for sale: [link]

Well, I'm not sure I'm really comfortable with use of these in a photo manipulation since these are sculptures, not actual birds skulls, and are not meant as stock images/resources. Is the manipulation for personal use or for profit?
