Qilin Unpainted by soulofwinter Qilin Unpainted by soulofwinter
Remember the Qilin sketches from before? Well, here he is all fleshed out and ready to go on his base! This creature is called the Qilin (a.k.a. Kirin, Kylin, etc., it has quite a few spellings and visual interpretations). Of course, he's unpainted here, but I'll be posting the painted versions in just a moment...

Wow, you made this? A-maze-in. I would like to buy it. Are you looking to sell? But not anytime soon. Right now my money is going to videogames next mouth. You know the new sonic and Zelda.

Thanks! The original won't be sold, instead casts will be made of this one. I'll probably sell a mix of special paints and limited custom paints :)

Gorgeous. Very realistic considering the subject matter. You've fleshed out the legend very well.

Hehe, yeah, there are a few ways to spell it xD It's neat that you ask that though, I did base the anatomy and pose off of Musk Deer/Muntjac/small deer anatomy :)

Is it based off of the musk deer?

I like how you you choose to make it more deer like then give it a single horn like some people do. I've always pictured Qilins as "dragon-deer" if you know what I mean. What I would of liked to see are some whiskers but I guess that would make it to dragon-like. Nevertheless, this is an awesome figure.

Well, there's a small art store right off of Kipling that has the clear rods, (don't remember the name of it, but it's right by the school). If not there, I think they're usually used for small models, so you could probably find them at quite a few hobby stores :)
