The Unpainted Devil Turn by soulofwinter The Unpainted Devil Turn by soulofwinter
Another for character design, this project's theme was circus freak. One of the first ideas that came to mind was one with a bit of cryptozoology. There have been so many hoaxes and displays of strange freakish monsters, it has always made me wonder, what if we find one of those "monsters" someday, alive and well? Would we kill it? Cage it? Chain it? Put it on display as a trophy for people to walk by and whisper to one another about the hideous beast that stands before them? Would we be able to look at the creature and see through the illusion of 'ugly' and 'beautiful' and see it for exactly what it is- a living being that is neither good or evil? I'm sure we would have at least one thing in common- survival.

Well, this concept was perfect for one of the first urban legend critters that I learned about when I was a small child- the Jersey Devil :D I've always loved everything about this strange creature, from the tale of how he came to be, to the eerie accounts, to the attempts at explaining what could possibly be terrorizing people.

Clean as in free of dust and such? For this sculpture I took all the photos, but Don did take the photos for a couple of projects I did later. He does a great job ^_^
